Which West Ham game were you proud to have attended?
With the end of days and nights at the Boleyn in sight I was talking with a Hammers mate tonight about the games we have been to over the years and which ones we are pleased we had attended or lucky to have been there.

Never being a season ticket holder and only managing a few visits a season I was surprised at how many damn good days I had managed to see first hand from the 4-0 away win at Chelsea in 85/86, the 2-1 win v Man United that same season through to the FA Cup Final in 2006.

However I found that the one game that I was actually proud to have attended was funnily enough a 1-0 defeat against Everton (I think) that was Sir Trevor Brookings last ever game for the Hammers. Not the result we wanted but chuffed to have been at the great mans last game.

Results aside, which game were you pleased not to have missed?

the cup semi final v forest was a great experience. I was in the upper tier seats down the side and right in the corner where gayle clashed with crosby. obviously distraught when the cunt hackett pulled the red card out but what followed with "Billy Bonds Claret & Blue Army" made me proud to be a west ham fan. forest battered us but all that mattered was us getting behind the team

the other one would be Metz away. just a great experience, I hadn't seen the team abroad before but the whole couple of days was superb. not even the cunt of a steward with the fire extinguisher could spoil it. we really got behind the team that night and they played brilliant. really thought we were on the verge of a bright future :.)

Funnily enough it was the game in which we were taken apart by Dynamo Tblisi. We clapped them off the pitch, and the following game they sent a message of thanks for the good sportsmanship.

I totally agree with both of those.

The only issue with Metz away was I had a recently broken collar bone, only just started to not have a sling the day before going to France... whenever we scored the bloke behind me was absolutely pissed and kept jumping on me which was fucking painful.

I still remember the fire extinguisher man. That was the only time in over 30 years of going to West Ham that I managed to start a chant... in fact two, "who ate all the snails" and "you're not spraying anymore" as he got lead away by his fellow stewards. The bloke who'd climbed half way up the fence and being sprayed in the face with the fire extinguisher was just laughing and loving it as I remember... and one of the French coppers on duty had the best moustache I've ever seen... happy days...

Palermo away was the scariest I've ever been in a place, 2 of the 3 lads i was meeting up with, never came, how the pair of us never took numerous beatings that day..amazes me today, one little of lady pointed up at some point early afternoon, as we left our Hotel , pair of us looked up, and some twat had dropped a boulder on us from the fucking roof, we ran instinctively back in, the italian who owned the bar, done the wanker sign at as, and done the slit throat action with his finger..charmed we weren't

The league cup semi-final 2nd leg v Oldham. We faced an impossible task and it would have been easy to just go through the motions, but we fucking battered them. With a little more luck we actually could have had 6. Walked away very proud that night.

Millwall '09 - We'd been battered until we scored, but not just because it was them, but Jack Collison playing two or three days after his dad died in a car accident. I'll always be thankful to Jack and the pride he had wearing our shirt, especially because of the significance of the game.

Seems like one of very few good guys in a bad era for the game.

Home
- Brookings last game
- All the games through 85-86
- Wimbledon home around 89 league cup game. Crazy violent night on the pitch
- Cambridge 93 when we won promotion
- The Ipswich play off semi night game
- The Spurs home defeat when Tevez scored his first goal
- The Chelsea home game this season

Away
- Chelsea 86, the 4-0 win
- Blackburn in 89 when i think we lost 5-4. Just a crazy game
- The Barthez fuck up in the cup at Old Trafford
- All of the Cardiff Millennium stadium games in the 2000's

Somehow proud of some defeats when I look back. Generally the performances on the pitch and the atmosphere in the crowd make the difference.

Metz away. That was just an all round great experience.

Second place probably beating Preston in the play off final in 2005.

About 2004. Cold wet miserable day, I think Steve Claridge even scored the winner.

Something to remember when if we win a few games and I can feel an Arsenal fan mentality (back to back FA Cups? 18 years of Champions league? Booooo . Get aaaht of my club Wenger) coming on.
